ROCKHOPPERS BEAT DANBURY 4-1

Saturday night at the Essex County Richard J. Codey Arena at South Mountain the Rockhoppers beat the Danbury Mad Hatters 4-1. The game was hard-fought early on, as both teams played physically and were unable to muster much offense. Jersey did get on the board first however on the stick of Logan Bittle, who took a Tom Boudreu pass and found the net giving the Rockhoppers a 1-0 at the end of the first period.

ACES BEAT BEARS 11-2

The flurries outside the Ice Time Sports Complex in Newburgh, NY were no match for the flurry of scoring inside the arena on Saturday night, as the Aces (18-2-2-0) beat the Hudson Valley Bears (2-17-0-0) 11-2. Brooklyn actually got off to a fairly moderate start. Mike Thomson found the net twice in the first period to give the Aces an early advantage. Ian McLoughlin scored with just over a minute left in the first and the Aces went into the second period with a 3-0 lead.

BEARS END LOSING STREAK - BEAT JERSEY IN SHOOTOUT

The jerseys were auctioned off after the game with the proceeds going to benefit the American Cancer Society. Unfortunately, the visiting Hudson Valley Bears were not feeling very charitable, as they shocked the Rockhoppers, beating them in a shootout and ending the Bears 16-game losing streak.

LOCAL PROFESSIONAL HOCKEY TEAM JOINS FIGHT AGAINST CANCER

On Friday January 9th, when the Rockhoppers battle the Hudson Valley Bears, they will also be battling against cancer.  EPHL Vice President, Sales & Marketing Herm Sorcher, announced that on January 9th, the Rockhoppers will hit the ice in pink jerseys to raise cancer awareness and to show their support for local patients and their families.That evening the pink jerseys will be auctioned off after the game to benefit the American Cancer Society.
